Naked Jester
(#84 “Naked Jester”, from “EVE”)

I am the jester.
The fools in the corner laugh.
They see me run naked.
Laugh at my eyes as if
they can see the placid ocean that breathes
with the help of the moon.

I don’t mind having such obvious need.
I’ve been out of the corner for years.
I’ve danced around my bonfire naked
for so long,
I no longer fear being seen by the hyenas.

The flames make light dance, fast, in
places those beasts can’t be sure are safe.
They never attack for fear of what they perceive.
I just keep dancing right out in the open.

If I could think of a more
outrageous costume I’d wear it.
A jester naked is the perfect effect.
They’ll have to be brave to come
dance out here with me.
